Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Pesalytics is an Android application developed and operated by Daniel Odhiambo ("we", "us", or "our"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@pesalytics.co.ke.

2. Information the App Accesses

Pesalytics accesses the following information on your device:

• M-PESA SMS messages — The app reads SMS messages sent by M-PESA (sender ID: MPESA) from your device's message inbox. These messages contain transaction amounts, merchant names, timestamps, and reference numbers.
• Transaction data derived from SMS — The app parses those messages to produce categories, totals, and a spending history displayed inside the app.

The app does not access or read any other SMS messages (personal, banking, or otherwise), your contacts, your call log, your location, your camera, or your microphone.

3. How We Use Your Information

All data accessed by Pesalytics is used exclusively to display your personal M-PESA spending dashboard inside the app. Specifically:

• To categorise M-PESA transactions (till payments, send money, pay bill, withdrawals, etc.)
• To calculate spending totals and trends over time
• To generate charts and summaries shown within the app

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the personal dashboard feature.

4. Data Storage and Transmission

Your data never leaves your device. Pesalytics processes all SMS data locally using Android's on-device APIs. No financial information, SMS content, transaction history, or derived data is transmitted to, or stored on, any external server operated by us or any third party.

Data derived from your SMS messages is stored in your device's local application storage and is subject to Android's application sandboxing — other apps cannot access it. Uninstalling Pesalytics removes all locally stored data.

6. Third-Party Services

Pesalytics uses Google Play Billing to process payments for premium features. When you make a purchase, Google handles the transaction. We receive only a confirmation of the purchase — no payment card details are shared with us. Google's privacy policy applies to that transaction.

The app does not integrate any analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash reporting services, or social login providers.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with any third party for any purpose. There is no data to share — all processing is local and we hold none of your information on our end.

8. Children's Privacy

Pesalytics is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us and we will address the concern promptly.

9. Your Rights

Because Pesalytics does not collect or store your data on any server, there is no user account to delete and no data held by us to request. You can remove all locally stored data at any time by clearing the app's data in Android Settings, or by uninstalling the app. You can also export your transaction history first.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy if the app's data practices change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any revision. Continued use of the app after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
