Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Pesalytics, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Pesalytics is an offline-first Android application developed by Daniel Odhiambo. The app reads M-PESA SMS messages locally on your device and parses them into a personal finance dashboard — categorised transactions, spending totals, and trends. There is no server-side processing: Pesalytics does not send your SMS content or financial data to any backend we operate.

3. Subscription & Pricing

Pesalytics is freemium. Core budgeting and tracking features are free to use indefinitely. A Premium tier is available via Google Play Billing at the following prices:

• Monthly — KES 299 per month
• Quarterly — KES 699 per quarter
• Yearly — KES 2,000 per year
• Lifetime — KES 9,999, one-time payment

A 14-day free Premium trial starts automatically when you grant SMS permission. Recurring subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. The Lifetime option is a single payment and does not renew.

4. Free Trial & Promotional Codes

The 14-day free trial gives full access to Premium features starting the moment you grant SMS permission. No payment method is required to start the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, Google Play will begin billing you for the subscription plan selected at trial start.

From time to time we may offer promotional codes or discounted pricing. These offers are subject to their own terms, eligibility, and expiry dates as stated at the time they're issued.

5. Cancellation & Refunds

All subscriptions are managed through Google Play, not through Pesalytics directly. To cancel, open the Google Play Store app, go to Menu > Subscriptions, select Pesalytics, and cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Refunds are handled entirely by Google Play under their standard refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.

6. User Responsibilities

Use Pesalytics only for its intended purpose — personal budgeting and expense tracking. Pesalytics is a budgeting aid, not financial or investment advice, and nothing in the app should be treated as a professional recommendation. You are responsible for verifying transaction data shown in the app before making any financial decision based on it.

7. Intellectual Property

The Pesalytics app, its branding, logo, and in-app content are owned by Daniel Odhiambo. Using the app gives you a personal, non-transferable license to use it on your own devices. You may not copy, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or resell the app or any part of it.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties / Limitation of Liability

Pesalytics is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. SMS parsing is automated and, while accurate in the overwhelming majority of cases, is not guaranteed to be 100% error-free — always cross-check important figures against your official M-PESA statements. We are not liable for financial decisions you make based on data shown in the app.

Because your data is stored offline on your device and never on our servers, we hold no liability for data loss caused by server failure — there is no server. Data loss from uninstalling the app, clearing app data, or losing your device is your responsibility; export your data regularly if you want a backup.

9. Third-Party Services

Pesalytics uses Google Play Billing to process Premium subscription payments. Google's terms govern that transaction. No other third-party SDKs are integrated into the app.

10. Termination

You may stop using Pesalytics at any time by uninstalling the app from your device. We may suspend or discontinue the service, in whole or in part, at our discretion — where reasonably possible, we'll provide advance notice of any change that materially affects existing users.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any revision. Continued use of the app after a change to these terms constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
